Write on the page the way you always have. When you pause, Pixie reads what you wrote and answers in the margin — as actual ink, drawn stroke by stroke, at the speed of a hand.
No typing. No send button. The companion works out that you have stopped from the rhythm of the pen, the way a person sitting next to you would.

Most apps that "write" an answer fade in a handwriting font. Pixie doesn't have a font. Every letter is a set of pen paths drawn in the order a hand makes them, with the tremor, slant and drift of a real wrist. You watch it being written, because it is being written.
Exponents lift and shrink. Subscripts drop. A sum carries its limits above
and below. Fractions build up over a ruled bar, and a square root's vinculum
stretches to cover exactly what is under it — so √2 + 1 and
√(2+1) are visibly different statements. Lines of working line up
on their equals signs, the way you would write them out yourself.
Stalling halfway through a problem and wanting a nudge rather than the answer. Working something out longhand and wanting a second pair of eyes on the page. Thinking on paper, with company.
